FAQ
Q: How can Vedic astrology be useful to modern Westerners?
A: Certain aspects of Vedic astrology have to be acknowledged to be more relevant to modern Westerners, than simply using western astrology. For example, Vedic astrology does give an accurate depiction of why we are here, what our life purpose is, and the circumstances we will encounter to make that journey. It is more about the journey of the soul; its wisdom is ageless. Just to give another example: in my experience as an astrologer I have found that the poetic metaphors in the Nakshatras (the 27 lunar signs Vedic astrology works with, each with their own power animal) really helps people understand, and most importantly, find peace with themselves at such a deep level. Thirdly, the declarative accuracy of Vedic Astrology is superior to western astrology. However, I would also say that the insight psychodynamic western astrology can give about our psychological drives and the nature of our ego or our 'self' are also invaluable, when properly interpreted.
Q. Aren't Western astrology and Vedic astrology two entirely different systems? How can you combine them?
A: They are different systems and most astrologers do opt for either Western or Vedic. Having trained in both of these, I do see great merit in both systems. I think Western astrology, when properly offered by a trained and experienced Astrologer, can clearly depict how we will understand our 'self', and the timing and nature of the unfoldment of our self - what is often called our 'ego'. Western Astrology is very good at identifying sub-personalities, emotional drives and the process of becoming whole (called individuation). And the great strength in Vedic astrology is how it does NOT focus on our egoic self, but how it accurately defines the personality qualities, mental consciousness and relationships that we will attract into our lives in order to become who we were born to be. Vedic Astrology is pre-psychological. If I had to have just one, I would firmly opt for the wonderful insight and guidance of Vedic Astrology. However, I am so glad I can offer my clients the combination of both!
Q: Is great astrological relationship compatibility a guarantee of a good relationship, and what happens if I'm in a relationship I want to stay in which doesn't seem so blessed astrologically?
A: Ancient Vedic Astrology can give an accurate and clear definition of a relationship and a scored evaluation of compatibility. But compatibility is not the only issue. The two of you can be greatly compatible together, but there can be that one fatal flaw: For example, if magnetic attraction is from one partner only - this can be a fatal attraction. Another example: the compatibility can be great but one partner could be too intrinsically assertive for the other partner. OR: the compatibility can be great, but one partner may have a fatal flaw of deceptiveness (which they need to work with and drop from their behaviour). OR there may be no agreement as to life direction (either day to day or overall). OR: the relationship could be tied to downfall. OR: the chakra energies could be mutually repelling. Whatever your level of compatibility, you also need to learn life style skills: so many people just don't have a picture of what is a good way to actually relate to the one they love. OR: it could be the wrong time for love. My relationship reports define both the level of compatibility and such dangers as these that may exit. It can define the right times for love. Certainly, as we grow older, our relationship skills and our spiritual awareness can greatly increase and grow, so that even relationships with defined in-built challenges can flower.
Q. I would like to buy a reading for a present. How do I do that?
A: It's quite simple. Select the sort of report you want to make as a gift. For example, this could be Birth Chart Interpretation, or Prediction or Relationship Astrology, or understand your child. Click on the buy now button, and send me an email giving me the natal data of the recipient. The required natal data is: date, time and place of birth. Tell me any particular issues you want me to cover. I will send the charts and reports to you for you to make the gift.
Q. I'd like a reading but don't know my time of birth?
A: The information I can give in response to a correct birth time is phenomenal. But if you don't know the correct birth time, jut let me know what you do know about the time of birth. There are techniques whereby a vast amount of invaluable insight can still be offered. If there is a significant astrological change during the day of birth, I can gear the interpretation to the two possible charts.
Q. I've already had my birth chart done so should if I want to know more about my birth chart? About my current life? What reading should I book with you?
A: I sincerely believe that the combination of Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology which I am trained to offer exceeds what you will get from other astrologers. So many astrological interpretations are offered by people with little astrological ability or qualifications. So many astrological interpretations are offered by people who simply use slogans and generalisations. I do feel that any of my readings will offer the best response you can get, and will supersede readings which don't include both Vedic and western psychodynamic astrology.
Q. The Law of Attraction says we have the power to change everything in our lives by changing our vibration, so isn't basing our life on the position of the stars at our birth fatalistic and disempowering?
A: I believe that our potential to heal and transform is vast. I am pleased at the range of healing techniques that Starwheel offers. I am pleased at the exceptional range of insight that is offered by the combination of Vedic and western astrology. Yes, we can heal and transform. However, I think we are more likely to heal and transform when guided with clear insight. The clear insight the combination of Vedic and Western astrology does offer. And it has to be recognised that there is also the issue of timing. Vedic Astrology identifies karmas in a life, sometimes, that are Fixed Karmas: they have to run; other karmas are not fixed. How do we change our karma? Well, Vedic astrology says the blindfolds will fall from our eyes and the chains will fall from our limbs partly through devotion to God, partly through good works, but also there is the issue of time. They say some karmas will only ripen and the fetters can only fall away 'in God's own good time'. There are some things we need to experience and work with. Vedic Astrology is very good at recognising and describing the factor of timing.
Q: What is Vedic Astrology?
A: Vedic Astrology is the sacred astrology of ancient India. It has come down to us from the Seers. It is vast and takes several life-times to learn. It is very accurate and sure in its declarations. It clearly states the reason we are here and it accurately depicts the physical and mental circumstances we will attract into our lives so as to work out our karmas and seek to become who we were born to be.
Q: Which Zodiacs does Vedic Astrology use?
A: Vedic Astrology uses two zodiacs. There is the familiar 12-sign Solar Zodiac that we all know (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etcetera), although this zodiac is actually 24 degrees different from the western zodiac, so the signs do not overlap a lot. And there is also the deeply ancient and magically wonderful 27-sign Lunar Zodiac, which is such a powerfully accurate key to our true natures.
Q: What is the difference between Vedic Astrology and Western Astrology?
A: One difference is that Vedic Astrology states our destined reason for being here and the detailed circumstances we will find in our life to work out that destiny, whereas Western Astrology is more geared to defining our egos, our 'egoic self'.
Q: What is the difference between the Sidereal Zodiac of Vedic Astrology and the Tropical Zodiac of Western Astrology?
A: Vedic astrology defines a far vaster picture than just focussing on our ego. It is for this reason that Vedic Astrology uses the Sidereal Zodiac, which is fixed and anchored to a fixed star, whereas western astrology uses the Tropical Zodiac where '0 degrees Aries' is wherever the Sun is against the backdrop of stars on the first day of Spring: the Vernal Equinox. Western Astrology is thus 'sun-sign astrology'. It is solar and egoic, and its Tropical Zodiac moves a full degree every 72 years away from the fixed Sidereal Zodiac of Vedic Astrology.
Q: What is Vedic Love Astrology?
A: Vedic Love Astrology contains a powerful and accurate measurement of the forces that exist in a relationship. It measures qualities that Western Astrology can not measure, such as to what extent the all-important quality of respect will be present, whether there will be friendliness and constructive decision-making, whether there will be shared purpose and instinctive sexual compatibility. Vedic Love Astrology produces a score out of 36 points to measure a relationship. It can define whether there are dangers such as 'fatal attraction' (magnetic attraction that is one way only), such as whether the relationship will attract downfall or obstacles. In itself, a good score is not enough. A couple may also need to watch out for a key danger which Starwheel Astrology can define, or the couple may need relationship-life-coaching or healing to develop their relationship to the fullness of its potential rather than let it whither on the vine.
